Superb ancient Burmese Temple Doors adorned with graceful dancers, carved through in hardwood and red lacquer. The style of the head-dress of the dancers suggests that the doors came from a temple of a remote area in the Shan state. Information on such temples and their treasures is rare. Only the beauty, the fine workmanship, the sensitivity for grace, serenity and the subtle sensuality of the dancers’ pose, the vitality and spirit which emanate from these superb art pieces best testify to many distant centuries past to which they belong. Presumably 16th-17th Century. H : 168 cm, W : 97 cm
