Chinese honey jar of ancient times, in a rich translucent caramel glaze and bamboo design handles. The lower lip at the neck of the jar is a water trough to prevent insects from getting to the nectar. The superb jar still holds the fragrance of honey of the bees of South China. The four marks translated are believed to read Tao Hai Bin Chan () or Pottery Seaside Chan, most probably the place of origin. Presumably 18th-19th Century. (The jar is in perfect condition except for the missing knob of the lid.) H : 50cm D : 26cm
