Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia
The personal collection of Nicoline Paulmier-Lopez, the owner, is a gold mine of genuine antique treasures for discerning collectors. It offers an opportunity to acquire select collections. “Works of art of bygone centuries are not only a pleasurable bond to history but are recognised as sound financial investments”.
Nicoline Paulmier-Lopez is French and has been living in Malaysia most of her life. Circumstances led her to become involved in creative and innovative projects.
Nicoline’s ardent interest in the different Asian cultures and their heritage inspired her, in the Seventies, to collect high quality antiques of the region. She opened her own gallery La Dame de Malacca in Kuala Lumpur which swiftly gained international renown. She held exhibitions in Malaysia, Singapore and in Washington D.C. in 1983 and New York in 1984. The latter was under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Malaysia. The magnificent collection of rare and unique South-East Asian antiques won effusive praise and was televised in the United States.
In 1990 Nicoline closed the gallery to pursue other passions. She is the author and publisher of books on home interiors and heritage architecture The Art of Living in Singapore and The Art of Living in Malaysia; co-author and the publisher of Art and Poetry books on Marc Chagall and Vincent van Gogh.
Nicoline’s ideal of a striking modern home is the harmony of style, simplicity, elegance with personality, uniqueness and comfort – a home with an aura of audacity for the unusual, with exotic charm, cultural history and spirituality. In other words one’s own world of wonders with a statement and soul.
Through the Seventies and Eighties Nicoline acquired an outstanding personal collection of beautiful Asian antiques. Some of her most cherished pieces are now for sale. “It is my sincere wish,” expresses Nicoline, “that these precious pieces of Asia’s vanishing historical arts continue to be admired and preserved in new homes.”
